Skrova - an island in the heart of Lofoten

Skrova is an island in Vågan municipality, south of Svolvaer in Lofoten. The island is one of the last authentic fishing villages in Norway, with its approx. 175 inhabitants. There is a shop with post office and bank, private landing facilities, restaurant, school, and several galleries. A separate training center for photographers from home and abroad called Fotobrygga. Skrova is located in the western side of the island, allowing you more hours of sunshine and less precipitation than in the rest of Lofoten. In summer, the island offers wonderful hiking and in winter you can go skiing on the trails. There are several marked nature trails - including up to the island's highest point at 280 m. It has a fantastic views of the Lofoten walls Hamarøy and Ofoten. You can also lie on the sandy white beaches and swim in an aquamarine sea. There is good fishing spots around the island and boats can be rented. There are great opportunities to see sea-eagles.

Autumn and winter provide the opportunity to experience the winter season and nature at its most visual. In December you can experience 24 hour night and also the northern lights and the very special light that occurs when the sun turns back around 6th January. Skrova can therefore offer a variety of activities and stunning scenery all year round, yet is ideal for those seeking peace and quiet.

Getting there - travel routes

You will be met by Anita immediately after getting off the ferry. She will be waiting for you to show you to the Oil Tank. She is Skrovas nicest lady. She will show you all the facilities, and she will have turned on the power in good time before arrival so that the rooms are warm and the water is good and hot.

One can get to Skrova in several ways. From the south the itinerary normally via the town of Bodø. From there you can either take the sea with large speed boat directly to Skrova (approx. 3 h) Or you take the fast route to Svolvaer by flying with Widerøe to Svolvaer airport (approx. 20 min). Then from Svolvaer take the ferry out to Skrova about 30 min. There are also other options by boat from Skutvik in Hamarøy, or take your car and explore the coast and the Lofoten from the road.

1-3 pers: Euro 1190 per week
4-8 people: Euro 1470 per week (New annex with extra bedroom was finished spring 2013)

You are welcome to rent for shorter or longer stays as well. Just contact us. Also for larger groups, over 5 to 8 people, you can overflow to a partner accommodation 5 minutes walk away. You will be able to wave at each other across the bay.

Prices include bed linen, towels, electricity and wireless internet. All prices include 8% sales tax. Obligatory final cleaning at Euro 80 will apply. Settlement paid within 7 days before the agreed rental period starts.
